Schellie-Jayne (“SJ”) is a lawyer, digital translator, citizen developer and machine learning enthusiast who has challenged the paradigm by embracing and deploying technology as a non-STEM professional within the conservative legal profession. She is the inaugural chair of the Legal Technology and Innovation Committee for the Australia-wide peak Corporate Counsel Association (over 4,000 lawyers), a judge for the Australian Centre for Legal Innovation 2021 Legal Incubator Program, a 2020 finalist for two Australian legal innovation awards and was individually commended in the 2021 Financial Times – Asia Pacific Innovative Lawyers Report. Through mentoring, presentations and “geek outs” she has directly and materially championed and mentored the use of new technologies by the legal profession in Western Australia and beyond.
