About Nina Tirnitz-Parker

Prof Nina Tirnitz-Parker is a tenured Research Academic at the Curtin Medical School and Curtin Health Innovation Research Institute. Since her recruitment as Laboratory Head (2012), four years after PhD completion, she has secured ~$14M as Chief Investigator. Nina directs the Liver Cancer Collaborative, a multi-disciplinary consortium of WA liver cancer experts, who apply cutting-edge technologies including single cell RNA sequencing, spatial transcriptomics and organoid drug screening. Nina enjoys science communication and outreach activities, which was recognised through a 2020 WA Young Tall Poppy Science Award. In 2019, she used the media attention as a member of the largest-ever all-female expedition to Antarctica to fundraise and, in collaboration with the Lions Cancer Institute, set up the Lions Lotus PhD scholarship.
