As a leader in a multi-national conglomerate, Erin is passionate and dedicated to bringing safety to the workplace in every engagement. A near death experience whilst overseas [Google it!] commenced her journey to campaign for Safe Travel with the Australian Government which encouraged young travellers to use technology to make informed decisions. A mere 7 years into a career in Mining, her experience across technical and operational roles has earnt Erin respect and rapport with her diverse team and colleagues, engendering her as a technically competent and authentic leader with a true culture of care. This passion brought unique opportunities to drive successful business transformation programs within BHP, more recently being promoted to Development Superintendent at Olympic Dam, often entrusted as acting Duty Manager for the whole Mine (over 1,000 personnel). Erin is an active member of the Inclusion and Diversity Council within BHP, working to reform the challenges many, including her, experience as large companies embark on the diversity journey. Erin also assists with retention of female employees by acting as an informal mentor and having 1:1 discussions with new starters to help foster a more inclusive work environment. Outside of BHP Erin mentors students through the UWA Career Mentor Link Program with a strong focus on increasing female involvement in the resources sector. Erin is also actively involved in promoting female participation in STEM pathways and subject selection through Santa Maria’s Career Day, the Get Into Resources program and volunteering for Leading Youth Forward, a program developed to provide guidance and improve the lives of at-risk Perth teenagers through coaching, mentoring and activity days.
