Alysia is a passionate leader in agricultural education with an extensive national network of agriculturalists and educators who is committed to supporting and building the future capacity by increasing the agricultural literacy of everyone she meets – students, teachers, politicians, the general public, colleagues and others in a range of connected industries.
She has a vision for the future of the agricultural industry, especially around attracting and retaining youth within it. She embraces challenge and continually looks for effective and efficient ways to integrate the agricultural context into existing curriculum delivery.
At every opportunity, she gives willingly of her time to share her extensive knowledge. She has volunteered her time on weekends to run a series of teacher tours to help support the new food and fibre curriculum in WA. She helps external stakeholders to reach their target teacher audiences more effectively. Alysia is a member of AgConnect, an organisation consisting of young people working in agriculture where she shares her experience with the up and coming agriculturalists. In her role as President of the Agricultural Educators Association of WA, she has developed a scholarship to attract tertiary agriculture graduates to undertake a diploma of education to become agriculture teachers.
