Anya is a crypto economist at Power Ledger which is one of Australia’s most exciting and respected blockchain companies. Power Ledger’s goal is to help everyday people get access to clean and cheap energy. Power Ledger completed Australia’s first Initial Coin Offering, raising $34 million dollars in addition to receiving a further $8 million dollar contribution from the Federal government for its Smart Cities program.
Crypto economics is an emerging field that combines blockchain technology, financial markets, business models and game theory. As a crypto economist, Anya has an exciting job of trying to master all of the above, understand what’s essential and what’s not and design new cutting-edge software products for Power Ledger’s customers. Much of her time is spent coming up with ideas for things that have not been done before. Prior to her role as a crypto economist, Anya ran a startup accelerator for young tech businesses. She was instrumental in attracting 50 technical and business mentors to support startups in getting their ideas to market and providing seed investment where it was needed most.
Anya is particularly proud of the 3 women-led startups that graduated the challenging 6-month program and went on to launch their offering. She was there with the female founders every step of the way through the ups and downs of establishing an early stage business. Having been a founder herself, Anya found that compassion for the entrepreneurs came naturally. Prior to running an accelerator, Anya launched her own tech startup which helped women get anonymous professional support in times of crisis. When not reading about blockchain technology or speaking at blockchain events, Anya does yoga and have volunteered as a yoga teacher at the Association for Refugee Survivors of torture and trauma.
