Associate Professor Silvester-Dean is an award-winning researcher and educator in the School of Molecular and Life Sciences at Curtin University. She is recognised internationally for her world-leading research in the fields of gas sensing and electrochemistry, working on fundamental research that is delivering solutions to real world problems.
Debbie completed a Masters Degree at the University of Bristol, and a PhD at the University of Oxford, UK. Since arriving in Australia in 2009, she has built up extensive laboratory infrastructure and created a vibrant research group, supported by extensive Australian Research Council fellowships and Discovery project funding. She is a strong advocate for women in STEM and has spearheaded several initiatives to support students and early career researchers around Australia.
