About Dr Samantha Lodge

Sam is a senior lecturer, researcher and mentor for undergraduate and postgraduate students. She relocated from the UK to Perth in 2019 with her young family to help set up the Australian National Phenome Centre, Murdoch University. Sam’s research work has focused on the application of metabolic phenotyping (fingerprinting) to study inflammation and the subsequent long-term effects on health. In 2021, she discovered a new biomarker of inflammation now recognised throughout the world.

In July 2024 she received the Women’s Health Research, Translation and Impact Network (WHRTN) Emerging Leaders Fellowship (ELF) Award 2024. This significant award includes a scholarship for the Monash University Women in Leadership Program and mentoring by WHRTN’s Chief Investigator and chair.
