Jemma employs her passion for genetics and forensic sciences to engage students and encourage them to achieve to their fullest potential. As a STEM educator with a background in medical research, Jemma has a unique ability to impart real-world experiences on everyone she interacts with, including ECU undergraduates, teachers completing professional development and high school students undertaking outreach programs. Jemma strives to provide authentic learning opportunities, enthusiastically embracing technology and innovation to help inspire and develop a passion for life-long learning. Jemma encourages students from diverse backgrounds, highlighting what can be achieved as a single mother and part-time employee. She shows that a career in STEM is something that can be attainable by all, no matter your background.
