Roberta moved to Australia in 2009 on a UWA PhD scholarship. Before joining Rio Tinto in 2023, Roberta worked on projects that integrated data science, artificial intelligence and environmental management, making an impact as an academic researcher, an engineering consultant and a technical leader. Since joining Rio Tinto, Roberta is leading technical teams of data scientists and optimization experts in the delivery of AI and data analytics solutions to modernize and enhance Rio Tinto operations.
Roberta’s journey has gone from academic research, technical developer work to team leadership, where she loves supporting and coaching her talented colleagues to help them realize their full potential. Roberta recognizes her greatest achievement is coming home safely to her young family, day after day.
